2017 - Andy Alderman Leaves Scottish Fencing

Scottish Fencing is today announcing the departure of Andy Alderman from the role of Club Development Officer.

Andy leaves on 30 November having joined the Scottish Fencing staff in April 2016.  Andy is of course a well known personality in the Scottish Fencing community, thanks to his tireless work on the coaching and high performance side over several years.

In Safe Hands 1 and 2 - essential training for Club Welfare Officers

Wallace Fencing are running the "In Safe Hands" 1 and 2 Child Protection course at Linlithgow Academy on Saturday 21 October 10am - 1pm and Tuesday 24 October 5.30-9.30pm. Further details here:

Scottish Fencing would encourage all Club Child Protection and Welfare officers to attend if they have not previously attended this training.

2017 Senior 5 Nations Selection - fencers information forms

The selectors are currently looking at who is eligible to represent Scotland at the Senior 5 Nations based on the current British rankings. 

If you are not in the top 10 Scots in the British rankings and feel that the selectors should pick you, please use this form to explain why they should consider you for the team. The deadline for completing this form is 5pm on 22 October.

2017 Highland Open - Results and full report

Elgin High School was the venue for the UK’s most northerly open fencing tournament when over 80 competitors from places as far afield as Shetland and London competed for the Highland Open Men’s, Women’s Foil, Epee and Sabre titles.

Statement on Talent Development

Scottish Fencing (SF) is undertaking a review of the Talent-development Programme, including those activities conducted under the banner of the Scottish Fencing Academy (SFA).

Chief Operating Officer and Club Development Officer

The Board of Scottish Fencing is delighted to announce who is joining the Scottish Fencing staff team.

Vincent Bryson - known as “Vinny” -  will be Chief Operating Officer from the 29 August and Alex Pearson will be our second Club Development Officer from the 4 September.  Both are part-time roles.

2017 U15 and U13 rankings

Published below are the 2017 U15 and U13 rankings updated from the final competition of the season. Well done to all who took part.

And for the next season the first YDS and Qualifier for Challenge Wratislavia is 16/17 September at Dunfermline High School. Entries are already open.
